for the ziploc bag activity, I used these items, but I am eagerly looking for more ideas! Dry cat food---the kids recognized this instantly!! Burnt Candied Nuts Sugar Pretzel Sticks Crayons Grass from outside *********************************************** Miracle Worker Project during Class Time: Day One: Have students pick one student from each cooperative learning group. That student comes to the front. Normally this is between 5-7 students. Explain the rules. 1. You will be blindfolded. 2. You will be given one ziploc bag at a time and your job is to guess what it is, using your senses of touch and smell and sometimes, taste. (Get the okay with ME before you taste it.) 3. When you are ready to guess what it is, raise your hand and whisper it to me. I will then give you another bag to guess. The students who guess all of the bags will be rewarded with a cooperative achievement slip for their group. Day Two: Once again, one student from each group is chosen. The same person from yesterday cannot be chosen again. The rules today: 1. You will be blindfolded and given a "trust" partner. 2. Your partner will choose a slip of paper from a hat, and will read to you what your job is to do, being blindfolded. 3. You will then proceed to do that job. Your "trust" partner is there to make sure you don't run into anything or anyone and hurt yourself. He/she also will help you if you are in DIRE need of some direction. The only way he/she can help you is by saying "You are getting hot/cold." Ideas for jobs: 1. Get a drink of water and then fill a cup with water and bring it to a teacher. 2. Go to the library and ask for a certain item. 3. Go to a typewriter and type your name, your birthday, and your address and telephone number. 4. Go to the proper gender's bathroom and wash your hands, dry them, and throw away the towel. 5. Draw a picture on the board of your family in front of your house. 6. Go to the office to give something to Mrs. Farrow.
