"Newsletter Requirements Sheet" I pass out copies to the students and they are required to keep the list as a means to organize themselves. Long term projects like this are difficult for middle school students to manage without some assistance in organization. The Newsletter Requirements ¯ On January 15th, you will pass in a newsletter for the book that you read during this contract. This newsletter must include all of the following items: Newsletter Requirements Sheet: When you pass in your newsletter final copy and all required papers, please include this sheet. I will expect to see that you have crossed off each item as it has been completed. (10 points) Newsletter Title: This title must be created in some way from the title of the book or the theme of the book. (5 points) Advertisement(s): Insert one or more advertisements for people, places, and/or things from your book. (15 points) The following are suggestions: person - advertise a service that a person is offering place - advertise a place for travel or a piece of real estate that is for sale thing - advertise an item that is for sale or for rent News Story(s): The newsletter must have one or more news stories about events in your book. Obituary(s): The newsletter must have one or more obituaries about characters in your book. Include a Writing Process Record, prewriting, and a revised and edited rough draft. The final copy and headline on the article should be error free. (25 points) Vital Information: Be sure to insert the book title (5 points), author's name (5 points), and your name (5 points) on the newsletter in a location of your choice. I suggest that you include them in some creative way rather than just adding them on at the end. You will not get credit if you just write on this information when you pass it in. Writing Reflection Sheet: Write one for the entire newsletter. Please explain what part of the newsletter is your favorite part and why. Then explain the worst or hardest part and why. (5 points) Total Points Possible: 100 10 points will be deducted for each day that the newsletter is late. A separate spelling grade will be assigned for the newsletter. 10 points will be deducted from the spelling grade for each misspelled word.
