It is a place to do research, read and find interesting novels and books. The following activities will help you to become more familiar with the library and get the most use and enjoyment out of it. Part A -- Using the Library Use what you already know, what you were told, and the library brochure to answer the following questions. 1. For how long can you borrow a book? _______________ 2. The Encyclopaedia Look up your topic and then answer the following: 1. What is the name of the encyclopaedia that you used?_______________________________ Look up your topic in the encyclopaedia Write out the volume (number) and page number. ____________________________________________________ ii. Were you successful? __________ iii. The CD-ROM Log onto a computer, go the Information CD menu and select World Book Information Finder. Type in your topic and push Enter. How many articles are there on this subject? __________ Push F6 -- use the arrow keys and select an article, then push ENTER to go to it. Write down the name of the article. ____________________________________ You will now do a Keyword search. Push F10 and then the TAB key -- enter your topic and push ENTER Look at the topof the screen. How many times does your word appear (hits)__________and in how many articles? ____ Push F6-- select one article and write out the title_________________________________.
